Where to buy the Bus ticket
In all cases, tickets are available at automatic machines (ATMs) and counters at Schiphol Plaza. You can also get it from your mobile phone. Once the order is complete, you can choose to download and print your e-ticket or upload it to the NS application. In addition to paper tickets, many Dutch use a public transport card called ‘OV-chipkaart’.
It is an anonymous chip card that costs €7.50 and has a maximum validity of 5 years.
It allows you to use all public transport available in the city, in a single ticket. You can use the OV-chipkaart for unlimited travel on the Metro, bus or tram, and choose a one, two or three-day pass to better suit your travel needs. You can also charge it with your credit card.
However, a single paper ticket is probably the best option if you only plan to use the train, bus, tram or Metro once.
